When I was riding home from Garland Wednesday, it looked rainy
ahead. So when I stopped at a traffic light, I pulled a plastic bag out of my
back pocket to protect my cell phone in case I hit a shower - forgetting that I had stuffed my
set of keys in the same pocket. I didn't realize I had dropped them till I got
back to McKinney. I went back that way on Friday, and looked around -
but there was no sign of the keys at the intersection.
Then, Friday evening I received an email from the McKinney library:
Mr. Horn,
Someone found keys and your library card in the street. We're
holding them for you at the Hall library on Hunt St. in the lost and
found. We'll hold them for one month. Please let us know if you want
them.
This morning, I went by the library and received a small manila envelope containing the keys (somewhat battered and coated with tar), and a note:
This partially restored my hope for humanity...

What a great story! Glad it had a happy ending.
Neat that it was a fellow motorcyclist that found and returned your keys!
So I'm assuming you got in touch to let him know you got them -- did y'all talk any more?
Yes, I did. We've corresponded by email, we actually spotted each other (confirmed later by email) when I rode by on my way home Thursday. He and his daughter were riding their tandem bike.
We plan to meet for coffee.
So have you met for coffee yet?
