Spring Break - The Rest of the Trip

We wound up our Spring Break with a lovely dinner at the Blue Heron Restaurant in Clemson. Highly recommended!

On our way out, we said farewell to "low" gas prices and real (non-alcoholic) gasoline.

Near Gulf Shores, we stopped for lunch at the Famous Lambert's Cafe - Home of the Throw'd Roll. Not particularly recommended.

This is for Carol. Hibiscus at the hotel in Orange Beach, AL.

We walked across the road to Lartigue Seafood and Crabs for lunch. Fresh steamed shrimp and homemade seafood gumbo. Yum.

Romar Beach Baptist Church is just down the beach from the hotel. Nice location!

Our secondary mission was to visit the house we've reserved for Hornucopia in June. We found it.

The beach was not particularly crowded when we were there.

When we went by the house the first time, the owner happened to be there. We had a very pleasant time chatting with him, and seeing the inside of the house. He was blown away by the amount of information Mimi had acquired about his properties. (Yay Google!)
We went by again on our way home to count the deck chairs.

We took the ferry from Ft. Morgan to Dauphin Island.

It's about a 40 minute trip. On the way, we dodged a Chinese ship, carrying asphalt. Or atomic bombs. Who knows?

We landed in Dauphin Island.

Then we drove home.

Spring Break Lake Keowee Outing

John's bud James invited us to go with them on their first boating excursion of the year.
Captain Andy piloted the vessel out into the lake. Admiral Grandpa Don looked on.

Second Mate John sized up the armament while we cruised.

First Mate Andy was in action, as usual.

Our destination was a small beach on one of the many islands in Lake Keowee. Grammy Chris led the landing party ashore.

Swimming commenced, in short periods. The water was cold!

This was not digging for gold or treasure... it was constructing a mud factory.

Voila! The sand was coarse, but beautifully sparkly due to the flecks of iron pyrite in it. It made a passable grade of mud.

Easter Breakfast

First up on the menu: Overnight French Toast (made with thick-sliced homemade bread).

Next: Scottish Eggs. (Look scary, taste wonderful!)

And bacon (thick-sliced).

Three courses... with champagne! Yum!

Christopher discovered the sound of simulated coconut shells over your ears. More interesting than breakfast, for a small boy!

Easter Egg Hunting In Clemson

Easter Eve was spent at the Fieldstone Ranch Blacksmith cabin. The theme was 'camping in', with continuous screenings of "Cars".

Easter Morning found a cheery decoration on the front door when we arrived.

Egg hunting commenced soon thereafter. Mommy was on the spot with her nifty new camera!

Christopher was more interested in the egg contents than in finding them.

Victory!

John filled his quota very quickly. The spiffy Easter egg truck basketss were from Mommy and Daddy.

Daddy tracked the search, to be sure all eggs were accounted for.

Next up: Breakfast!

Easter Eggs In Clemson

Preparations (boy-style) for Easter egg hunting went well. John did an excellent job of dying the egg shells, after the egg goo was blown out of them.

He did some creative designs, including the wax-crayon-to-make-writing trick.

Of course, there remained the question "what to do with the egg goo?"
Easy answer, for boys: dip your fingers in it and dribble it around on things! What else??

Spring Break In Clemson - Thespian Tony

This semester, in addition to doing the lighting design for the student play, Tony is playing a part! Because we are well connected, we got to watch the first full run-through rehearsal.

The play is "Proof" by David Auburn. It won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play.


Here are a couple of scenes, featuring Tony as the dead father of a young female mathematics genius.

The play was Really Good, and all the actors were fantastic - especially Tony.
