1820 Calories Doesn't Look Like Much Food

We decided to see how much food you get for a given amount of calories. So we laid out a day's worth of meals and added it up.

Doesn't look like much food, does it?!
Here's the list:

1 c cereal 90
1 c milk 100
1/3 c cherries 130
2 pc toast 140
1 T jelly 50
Breakfast 510

4 oz cottage cheese 90
1/2 c peaches 80
1 slice pizza 340
1 c squash 18
1/4 whole onion 16
1 T olive oil 120
1 oz choc chips 140
Lunch 804

1 c soup 70
1/2 c quinoa 170
2 c lettuce 16
1 T dressing 65
3.2 oz tuna 75
2 pc cookies 110
Supper 506
Total 1820
That's probably MORE calories than needed, given our lifestyle.

Wow, that really doesn't look like much food! I guess the fact that a lot of it is uncooked, doesn't help - or do you have to eat it uncooked for it to count, since oil and things used in cooking add calories? Man, that really brings it home that I eat way too much...

And is that quinoa that I see, by chance?

:P

HOW DID YOU GUESS??!!

I added the list of items.

The only thing to be cooked was the squash & onions - Mom sauteed them in the olive oil. Very tasty. There was enough for both of us.

I got mixed up and ate supper for lunch, but I suspect the calories came out the same anyway.

Actually, it was enough food for me. I could have eaten more, but didn't need to.

I don't know. It kind of looked like a lot of food to me... maybe just a lot all at once...

Nice job, though!

Hey, maybe it's a new dieting technique. You have to post pictures of your food on a blog, before you eat it.

it looks like a lot more food if you click on the picture and then zoom in to see a bigger image!

btw, i would have expected to see chocolate chips at breakfast, lunch and dinner. :)

I think Julie's right - that's quite a good dieting technique - plus think of all the calories burned off with all the extra work of laying it out, looking up the caloric information, taking the picture, uploading the picture...

And I'm with Jenny - surely you skimped on the chocolate chips??? Did you really get by with only 1 oz?? :P

Gimme a break!
