Trip East

Our first stop was Siloam Springs, AR. We took Reuben's Jeep to his daughter Sophia, who is attending John Brown University.

We spent the night in Conway, AR. Sadly, we just didn't have time in our schedule to drive by Hendrix College where Julie went to school.

We met up with Candice and Gene in Memphis. They had driven up there to escape the rain from tropical storm Lee. We had barbecue for lunch.
Nasville has a Trader Joe's! This time, we each had one shopping bag to fill. This greatly reduced the financial impact of our visit.
By the time we got to Pigeon Forge, there was plenty of rain for us to enjoy - something we haven't seen in quite a while.
We found a wonderful Italian boutique diner for lunch. It's called "Papa John's Pizza."
(Not quite the same as Portugal, but the best we could come up with in Pigeon Forge.)
There were even puddles to splash in...

That pizza looks good!

And why wouldn't anyone share their umbrella with you? (Although it didn't look like it was actually raining at that point.)

Glad you guys are enjoying the rain. Most of the time I still do, even though we get enough of it over here...

Mom kept trying to get me under her umbrella, but I was being stubborn and macho and enjoying the rain. My windbreaker has a hood and is pretty waterproof, so there was no permanent damage.
