Heli Video

The mini-video camera finally got mounted on the helicopter. It's the white blob underneath the tail.
Here is a view of the heli and camera, looking from underneath.
This is a 1 1/2 minute video made up of segments of a 9 minute flight. The major scenes are:
Takeoff
Brief cameo of the pilot
Top of the house
Top of the oak tree in front
Driveway and neighbor's nice landscape area
Top of the John Michael/Naomi tree in back
Not very smooth landing

Wow! That's really impressive. How did you manage to get it up so high and across the roof? I thought it was really difficult to fly if you lose visual contact with it?

Are you going to start regular surveillance runs around the neighborhood?

Nice flying! Have you done anything to make it more stable since I was over? Or is it just a lot of practice on your part?

J - You are absolutely right - it would be impossible to fly without seeing it. For me, it is almost impossible WITH full visibility! I was in the back of the driveway, and it was high enough I could see it all the time. The little camera has a fairly long focal length.

M - Thanks - unusual for me to fly a full battery without incident. I edited out the dicey parts... I did reduce the control sensitivity, which helps.

But... today I took it up to church to have more room - got too wild - and crashed. Still learning!
