Hummus
Several months ago, I bought a little bag of chickpeas. They sat around in the cupboard, until Mimi got tired of seeing them and cooked them up. They tasted pretty bland, so we decided to make them into hummus. Neither of us knew (or cared) much about hummus, except we were pretty sure you make it from chickpeas. Joy of Cooking to the rescue!
So here is my breakfast the next morning: hummus on baguette rounds with orange juice.
Well done. And it's great if you like it, since hummus is one of the easiest things to make, if you have a blender...
I like hummus that has garlic in it.
It goes really well as a dip with raw bell peppers and carrots. I also had some one teach me a really easy recipe where you saute bell peppers, onions and whatever other vegetable you want (like zucchini) and then you put that in a tortilla or a pita pocket with some hummus and it makes a nice wrap.
